The Highlands County Engineering office issues General Utility Permits for all underground and overhead utility crossings on and along County roadways and public rights-of-way. The Utilities Coordinator/Inspector receives, reviews, and issues utility permit applications. The Utilities Coordinator/Inspector coordinates with utility contractors to ensures the location, manner and installation of utility lines adhere to the Highlands County Land Development Regulations.
The Utilities Coordinator/Inspector works closely with municipalities, communications, electric and gas providers to coordinate, monitor, and inspect utility installations and relocations for roadway projects to ensure they do not impact the traveling public beyond what is necessary.
